Populating an Adobe PDF Form with logiBridge
logiBridge can generate populated PDF forms and save them directly to a folder on your hard drive, for each new form submission, without you every having to login and the download data.
In Version 2.0 of logiBridge, you can select to generate a new PDF document for each downloaded form submission. You may also select to generate an FDF or XFDF file for each submission. Using logiBridge can save hours of time and help you maintain a local copy/backup of your form submission data in close to real time. Below are the steps to configure a logiBridge task to populate a PDF Form.
Setting it up - Open logiBridge and Create from the Task Menu
 - Enter a Name for the Task in the "Name of Task" field.
- Select the Form you would like to download data from in the "Source Table" field.
- Click to select SSL, to make the download encrypted.
- Leave the "Start Record" blank. To start downloading data at a specific record, you can enter the record ID here.
- Enter the "Refresh Rate". This is the interval to check for new form submissions.
- Click Next > to advance.
Selecting the Destination and File Settings
On the Select Destination Screen, you may select the download format for your data. logiBridge can automatically import data into an Excel Spreadsheet, a Microsoft Access Database, a MS SQL Server Database, a generated CSV file and generated PDF forms. The settings on this screen are explained below: | Type of File | This is the destination file type. Select PDF Form to generate populated PDF Documents. | | PDF Template / File Location | Click the small button next to this field and browse to your existing PDF Form. This is the Form Template | | File to Generate | You may elect to generate any one of the 3 file types listed. Generating a PDF will create a self contained PDF document for each new form submission. The FDF and XFDF documents generate a file that contains only the form field information. The original PDF form (selected above) must be retained and is used to open the FDF or XFDF files and populate the form fields. The benefit to this method is that the file size of each document is much smaller than regenerating an entire new PDF for each submission. The downside is that this method is not very portable and requires both the original file and the generated document when opening or sharing the PDF. | | Folder Destination | Select the folder where the generated PDF documents will be stored. | | Base Name | Enter the base file name for the generated files. |

Using a Filter On the next screen, you may select an existing filter to download only selected records. This topic is explained in more depth in the logiBridge user manual. For this example, we will not use a filter, click next to advance to the field remapping screen. Field Mapping On the Field Mapping Screen, you need to tell logiBridge which fields from your online form will populate into the field on your local PDF Form Document. Your remote form fields are listed on the left and the PDF form fields on the right. Go through each row and match the fields.
Value Mapping Next, logibridge will identify any checkbox, radio or drop down fields on your form in order to provide you with the option to map the values. For example, if your PDF has a radio group for "sex" and the option values were "M" or "F", and your logiforms form, had the same radio group but its option values were "Male" and "female", you would use the Value Mapping Screen to correctly map those values from your online form to the PDF Form. The fields from your PDF are shown on the left and the fields from your online form are shown on the right. Click on the fields space on the right side to select the field value to remap to the PDF field value displayed directly to its left.
Note the number of multi-select elements found on your form and the small blue arrows to step through each of these fields and configure the remap values. | The easiest way to ensure the field and value remapping work, is to name your fields the same in your PDF and in your logiform form. You should also try to name the field values (for radios, checkboxes and drop downs) the same. |

When your task runs, any new form submissions will be automatically downloaded and a new document generated. logibridge will pop up an alert and report the number of records downloaded as shown here: The destination directory will contain the generated documents as shown here.
